Introduction
The gender balance in the higher judiciary has grabbed the spotlight of the people once again as the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) states that the need to “Female Judges” in India’s Higher Court is not about getting numerical equality of male and female judges. It is more about making the justice stronger and it will ensure inclusivity. As the bench is positioned to serve the fair and unbiased decision to the people and the decisions that help our society.
Present Scenario of women judges in Higher Judiciary
Women are excelling in all the fields whether it is Defence sector, IT sector, Business, and in legal profession but the representation of the “Female Judges” in the Judiciary particularly in higher judiciary remains low. The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) of India states that the participation of females in the Higher Judiciary is very low and we need more judges for the Higher Judiciary and for the same reason there is visible imbalance and the nation still lacks the female presence in higher judiciary.
Gender Balance in Judicial matters
The “Female judges” will not only fill the gap of gender instability but also bring the diverse life experience that will help to broaden the interpretation and make judgement more holistic. The presence of the female judges will strengthen the confidence of the female in the court and encourage other females to attempt for the Higher Judiciary also this will show the judiciary commitment for the challenges of gender stereotypes faced by the women, and it will help to build a more inclusive system of justice.
SCBA’s Call for Action
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) urged for the greater participation of females in the higher judiciary. The bar states that there is need to elevate more senior women advocates to position in High Court and Supreme Court also added that there is need of the policy that will show the transparency and fairness in the appointment process also there is the demand from the Bar that there is need of institutional framework that support females in taking more on leadership role within the legal system. As the young lawyer particularly, females are more indulged in the legal sector now and these will help the coming generation especially females to think more about the Higher Judiciary.

The Supreme Court Bar Association urged for more female judges in the Higher judiciary represent that the India follows democracy that gives everyone equality and this steps will uphold its democratic ideals, achieving gender balance in judiciary is not a choice but a necessity a diverse judiciary is truly a backbone of society but it also raises the questions such as of the structural flaws or we should hire judges on the basis gender just to fill the gap to gender equality that is affect the judiciary in adverse manner.
