INTRODUCTION
Marking a significant moment in India’s Political Landscape C P Radha Krishnan has won the 2025 Presidential Election defeating the opposition leader Sudershan Reddy. CP Radhakrishnan was the nominee of NDA and elected as 15th Vice President of India. The Victory stands as a pivotal moment in India’s Politics , shaping the course of governance in the years ahead.
WHO IS CP RADHAKRISHNAN?
He is a senior BJP Leader from Tamil Nadu who is known for his clean image and simple lifestyle. He has been active in politics for many decades.He was elected twice as a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore In the year 2001 he became the Governor of Jharkhand. There he basically focused on welfare and development. He belongs to the Gounder ( OBC) Community of Tamil Nadu. This strengthened his mass connect and popularity. From the year 2016 to 2020. He led the Coir Board and achieved record export growth. He was later given additional charge as a Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. He was appointed as Governor of Maharashtra in the year July 2021 this was the role he held until his nomination for Vice President.
HIGHLIGHTS OF 2025 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
The Presidential Election of 2025 was conducted on September 9th 2025 which took place in Parliament House New Delhi. The election was conducted due to the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankar who stepped out from the position due to some health issues. Out of 781 members of the house 767 members casted their vote. B Sudershan Reddy was the opposite candidate . Radhakrishnan received 452 votes over Sudershan Reddy and he got 300 votes. Radha Krishnan won by a margin of 152 votes.

The ruling coalition welcomed CP Radhakrishnan’s Victory, praising his experience, integrity, and ability to ensure smooth functioning in the Rajya Sabha. The opposition parties congratulated him but stressed the importance of impartiality while presiding over the Upper House. The Honourable Prime Minister extended his congratulation.
